After
just 30 lessons, Reading Together tutors and tutees across NCLB
subgroups gain an average of 1.5 grade levels in accuracy and
comprehension. And most do even better, like these second
and third graders and their below-proficient cross-age tutors, as
measured on the QRI3:
- Second-grade tutees gained 2.6 grade levels in accuracy and 2.2 in comprehension
- Fourth-grade tutors gained 2.5 grade levels in both measures
- Third-grade tutees gains 2 grade levels in accuracy and 1.5 in comprehension
- Fifth-grade tutors gained 4 grade levels in accuracy and 3 in comprehension
In
addition to postive district data, Reading Together has shown
outstanding results in the first phase of a rigorous
and independent multi-year research study. Initial effect
sizes are far greater than those for classroom size or
comprehensive school reform. Stay tuned for the final results!
