| | | The power of the mentoring bond | | Research proves that mentoring can be a powerful and positive force in the life of a child and his/her family, school and community. National studies continue to validate mentoring as an effective strategy for reaching at-risk students and keeping them in school. The one-on-one caring relationship between mentor and child offers many benefits, academic as well as social and emotional. Learning Together has combined the best of mentoring – the nurturing mentor/mentee bond – with structure and academic content. Our interventions are based on research showing the most favorable effects of mentoring depend on frequent contact; longer-lasting relationships; training for mentors; and structured activities for mentors and mentees.
